Zenit St. Petersburg missed the chance to join CSKA

Defending champions Zenit St Petersburg missed opportunity after suffering a 2-0 home defeat to Krasnodar FC, joined CSKA Moscow in the Russian Premier League top.

Iceland defender La Naxi and Colombian midfielder Ricardo Laborde set on the third side last season's Krasnodar FC a first win on the road in St. Petersburg, they move up to sixth place.

"This is the win that we really needed to boost our self-confidence," FC Krasnodar manager Oleg Kononov said. "Today we played well in defence and threatened back on the counter-attack and it worked perfectly. I'm pleased with both the result and my team's performance."

Saturday evening kick-off, two-time former champion Rubin Kazan, who have struggled so far this campaign, chalked up their first win with a 1-0 success at Kuban Krasnodar.

Turkish Black Sea Gokdeniz veteran is a hero, he scored the first goal Rubin activity in the first 33 minutes. Rubin finally off the mark has lost its past four games.
